Unity on the Move ~ Daring Greatly

Dear Unity family:

In the November-December newsletter, Kandi Austin wrote an amazing “Words from the Board” article.  Here is the first part of that article:

“The Unity Board members gathered on the weekend of October 17, 18 & 19 to plan for our coming year.  Upon our arrival at the retreat…a toad was waiting on the railing to welcome us.

The appearance of a Toad heralds a successful time of drawing upon and using our inner resources.

Toads are associated with money and luck- especially changing your luck from bad to good.

People with a Toad totem can see things and people more clearly.

A Toad heralds the need for self-examination.

Ask these questions:

Am I hesitating to act and missing opportunities?

Am I allowing fear to hinder progress?

Have I forgotten my inner strength?

Our coming year promises to be a year of change. We have moved past hesitation and fear. Drawing on the inner strength of alignment with what is true and right, Reverend Toni Fish and our new Board President, Cassie Simpson, are writing a detailed letter to share with you our next step in our Vision for Unity.  It will be arriving in your mailboxes next month.”   This is that letter!

As a result of the prayer and discussions during the Retreat, the Board has outlined a timeline that addresses our concerns related to Sacred Space which is scheduled to reach a decision point at the Annual Membership Meeting in September, 2015.

Using Cassie’s expertise in proposal development, we have put together a draft Vision Document and Appendices that describes current concerns, opportunities and benefits, budget considerations, the process to be used, and who the key participants are.  We identified several projects related to resource information gathering and challenge/opportunity definition and are looking to complete these projects in the next three to four months. The working draft is available on the website for viewing and download by all participants – members, regular attendees, friends and renters/users of our present space.  We ask that you keep in mind that these are living documents and as we gather additional information from our key participants and congregational dialogues, we will continue to update them.  If you are unable to access the website to view or download, please contact the office and request a printed copy.

We encourage everyone to read through the document and share thoughts, concerns and questions with members of the Board and Rev. Toni.  Over the next seven months we will be holding three congregational dialogues to discuss the Vision Document and the overall process:  February 22, 2015, April 26, 2015 and June 28, 2015.  Please mark your calendars and plan to attend.

The Board came away from our planning weekend with renewed commitment to the growing visions of Unity and look forward to sharing these with you.  We envision each of you taking an active part in stepping forward – together in Unity.
