“When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be. When I let go of what I have, I receive what I need.”
― Tao Te Ching
Unity in Frederick is almost finished with our flood recovery projects. The last item is fixing a crack in the sewer line and we expect that to be fixed within the next several weeks. We are grateful for all the financial donations we have received during this time, as well as those donating their talents and time. Those still wishing to donate to Unity’s out-of-pocket costs can drop their donation off in the weekly offering basket or mail it directly to the office (please designate it as “Flood Fund”).
From Theresa Wyatt:
I am grateful that I spent last week at the Big Sky Retreat. Once again I got to sing with Michael Gott and Karen Drucker. I also got to listen to and feel the energy and love of Rev. Mary Morrisey and Rev. Sheila McKeithen and many other wonderful speakers. Then I came back home to the real world. While I can still feel the energy high I wanted to share it with you.
In October, 2014, the board members found a Toad on the first night of the retreat and found the meaning and message of that Toad had special significance for us during the weekend. This year, Board members gathered on the weekend of October 23-25 to plan for our coming year. On her drive to the retreat, Rev Toni saw a beautiful blue heron in flight and took that as another sign for the Board and our meeting:
Here is one of the descriptions of Heron as a spiritual totem:
In June, we had our third congregational dialogue of our “Daring Greatly ~ Unity on the Move” series. We had good turnout for the series of discussions, great questions, and a lot of positive feedback.
At our Annual Meeting, scheduled for September 27th, the Board will formally put forth a proposal to the members of Unity in Frederick to authorize the Board to place our current home on the market and to lease our new home. This would be a big step for Unity in Frederick to allow us to grow our presence within our Unity community and to our larger Frederick community.
The Board of Trustees is held in trust by the membership to make decisions regarding church governance, developing Church policy, managing the overall budget, and hiring and evaluating the senior minister(s).

Dear Unity Congregants and Members!
The Unity Board members gathered on the weekend of October 17, 18 & 19 to plan for our coming year. Upon our arrival at the retreat…a toad was waiting on the railing to welcome us.
The appearance of a Toad heralds a successful time of drawing upon and using our inner resources.
Toads are associated with money and luck- especially changing your luck from bad to good.
People with a Toad totem can see things and people more clearly.
The Unity Board of Trustees has completed an amazing and extremely productive year! The most extensive accomplishment was fully updating Unity Policies and By-Laws in accordance with Unity Worldwide Ministries.
