Updates from Unity

Season for Nonviolence—Healing Our Relationships

“Yes, peace begins with me,” as the song says.  Yet, that is not where peace stops.  While we must first establish peace in our own hearts and lives, and doing so has a ripple effect to the larger world, stopping there without expressing to our families, friends, and communities our own inner peace and unconditional love for them does not represent the full dimension of what practicing nonviolence means in the outer world.

Spring Cleaning and Rebirth

When the sun begins to warm the earth and the trees begin to bud, there are several things that come to mind: rebirth and spring cleaning.  And both of those are up for us at Unity this coming week!
This Saturday we will have our first Clean Up Saturday - our Spring Cleaning - from 8am to 11am.  Bring your favorite cleaning rags and sponges and join us....there will be coffee and tea, donuts and bagels, and music to clean by.

Did You Know We Have a Lending Library?

Did you know that Unity has books, CDs, and tapes in its lending library located in the room to the right of the lobby?

There are hundreds of publications covering a wide range of spiritual, self-help, and inspirational subjects just waiting for you to take home and enjoy.

Lending is easy; no check-out required.  Just take the item home and return when finished.  There is no specific lending time-period, but if you haven't read/listened to it after three months perhaps you should return the item to make it available for someone else.

Words on Faith: Stump the Minister

Published in Frederick News Post on October 6, 2018

We have a tradition at Unity in Frederick - the 5th Sundays are “Stump the Minister” Sundays.  During the lesson time of the Celebration Service, individuals in the congregation can ask me questions – things that are on their mind or in their heart – and I will do my best to answer them.  The range of questions is wide, from what is the meaning of life to what qualifies me to be the minister.  Interestingly, I found that last question the most difficult one to answer so far.

Updates from our Youth Ed Director

The fun continues for the Unity in Frederick Youth! The younger kids have started a new curriculum on Sunday mornings about Unity basics and principals. The middle school and high school group had their first Sunday morning meeting this past week. They will meet every 1st Saturday of the month. Please see below for exciting and updated events!
