Welcome to Youth Education Ministry at Unity in Frederick. Our Youth Ministry honors each child and family as an expression of the Christ within. Each Sunday the Roots Room is full of children exploring Unity Principles and teachings in a fun, engaging, safe, and interactive environment. Our Ministry program is staffed by a team of loving and dedicated volunteers who enthusiastically guide our youth through their own personal discovery of their relationship with God and how that power can have a wonderful impact on their lives.
- All parents/guardians are required to sign their children in, (ages 2 to 10), each Sunday and to have a registration form on file.
- At the conclusion of the adult Sunday service the children join the adults for a closing experience.
- All staff and volunteers have undergone background checks.
- Youth ministry programs are available for children and teens, 3 to 18 years. Our classrooms are staffed with a volunteer teacher beginning at fifteen minutes prior to the start of the service in the sanctuary.
- The Uniteens and YOU alternate their meetings. Please check the schedule on the website to see specific dates and times for each.
Childcare is also available for many of the events held at Unity during the week. Please check the website announcements for more information.
In a typical week, after checking your children into their classrooms, they spend ten minutes in fellowship and pre-session crafts. Our lessons then begin with a time of meditation, which is followed by a story and discussion of the spiritual lessons presented in the story. Frequently these stories are from the “Children’s Illustrated Bible” which presents the material in more of a storybook form. Our children are then lead through a creative experiential based activity that allows them to express and experience the lesson on a personal level.
Uniteens (6th – 8th grade group) participate in discussion, crafts, games and meditation every other Sunday during 11 a.m. services. We presently are looking for an adult guide/facilitator to work with our Uni-Teens! If you are interested, contact Rev. Toni Fish or January Righter for more information! This group explores spiritual truths in a safe and age appropriate environment. They have the opportunity to connect with other teens and to take the ideas and spiritual principles shared and see how they can incorporate them into their lives. Bible and metaphysics are explored and self-expression is encouraged. Uniteens meet in the small room in the back of the lower level.
Youth of Unity (Y.O.U.)
Our Y.O.U. is made up of high school students, ages 14 to 18 years old. We presently are looking for an adult guide/facilitator to work with our Y.O.U.s! If you are interested, contact Rev. Toni Fish or January Righter for more information!
The group will meet every other week during the 11:00 Sunday service. The focus of our Y.O.U. chapter is assisting the teens in developing leadership skills and to encourage them to have an active role in the classroom experience. It is a classroom that is student led, adult guided. This age group uses their understanding of the Bible and Truth principles to discuss and look deeper into the issues and concerns that they encounter each day. Y.O.U. meets in the small room in the back of the lower level.
Opportunities to attend sub-regional events, regional retreats & rallies and International gatherings are offered throughout the year.
