Thoughts of the Season - November-December 2013

Tue, 11/26/2013 - 2:10pm -- Toni

During the holiday season, often we lose sight of the abundance and peace in our world in the hustle and bustle of gifts and parties and family reunions. We can find ourselves in a funk or short-tempered as we work to “do it all – and do it perfectly.” I would like to challenge you to approach the season in a new way this year. I invite you to participate in a Prosperity Prayer Program - a program for realizing and demonstrating abundant prosperity in your life and affairs and for centering yourself in that ‘…peace that passes all understanding.’
Here is the plan of action:

Thoughts of the Season -- September/October 2013

Tue, 09/03/2013 - 2:52pm -- Toni

Becoming the Hero of Your Own Journey — Jean Houston is a favorite of mine. She’s a philosopher and author, a wise woman and a seer of the future. Here are some excerpts from an interview she did with Oprah Winfrey on OWN in 2012. As we move forward into a new year—into the next 20 years of community in Frederick, let’s be the heroes of our journeys together!

Thoughts of the Season -- July-August 2013

Fri, 07/05/2013 - 10:02pm -- Toni

Have you been wondering lately if the world is going to just explode? If everything is coming apart at the seams? Does it seem that your problems or challenges are getting bigger all the time? Check out this story from Hafiz, a 14th century poet. Perhaps it will provide a new perspective… or at least some food for thought!

Words on Healing from Charles Fillmore....

Wed, 05/01/2013 - 1:05pm -- Toni

Each Tuesday throughout April and May there is a morning class and an evening class here at Unity discussing the teachings of Charles and Myrtle Fillmore on healing and wholeness. Our focus is on understanding their approach to the healing process and to finding our wholeness. Recently, I received a copy of one of Charles Fillmore’s unpublished lessons entitled “What Is It That Heals?” This talk was given on August 8, 1915.
As part of ‘honoring our tradition,’ I want to share some of this work with you here:

Thoughts for the Season: Honoring our Roots - 20th Anniversary

Wed, 02/20/2013 - 4:09pm -- Toni

This year marks 20 years for Unity in Frederick. We will be looking back to honor our traditions – our roots – and looking ahead to envision and manifest our future. We will also be celebrating who and what we are in this moment!!!! We hope you will join us! As part of looking back to honor our roots, I will, from time to time, share the original words of Charles and Myrtle Fillmore in the newsletter, in a blog on the website and in lessons on Sunday. I would like to start this in this Thoughts of the Season.

Thoughts of the Season - January-February 2013

Thu, 01/31/2013 - 2:26pm -- Toni

“Look well to the growing edge. All around us, worlds are dying and new worlds are being born.”
                                                                                                                                     Howard Thurman

We begin a new year—an auspicious new year at that! According to many, this is the first year of a new world consciousness! As with any new birth, the “being” that is born has just begun an amazing journey of growth, discovery and change.

It's a New Year A-Coming!

Sun, 12/30/2012 - 2:13pm -- Toni

“Look well to the growing edge. All around us, worlds are dying and new worlds are being born.”
Howard Thurman
We begin a new year—an auspicious new year at that! According to many, this is the first year of a new world consciousness! As with any new birth, the “being” that is born has just begun an amazing journey of growth, discovery and change. The passage below was written by Margaret Stortz, a retired UCRS minister, and she describes the impact of change and new birth very well.

Thoughts of the Season - Andy's Denial and Affirmation

Thu, 12/06/2012 - 12:29pm -- Toni

From Andy Kraus ---

Denial Today
I choose to refrain from worry
and Live in Faith [option A]

Affirmation Led to Right Action,
I step forward [option B],
assured of my GOOD.

And So It Is.
=========================================

The denial statement works as it stands without the addition of Option A.

We refrain from worry about ANY and EVERY thing
